Established in May 2013 and with over 140 strong workforce, Wirlu-Murra Enterprises Pty Ltd (WME) is a 100% indigenous owned business. Its Parent Company, Wirlu-Murra Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation (WMYAC) is a community group based in Roebourne, representing the Yindjibarndi people of Western Australia.
WME operates various contracting services across the mining and community sector including:
- Civil and Earthworks construction and maintenance
- Transport Services
- Non-Process Infrastructure maintenance
- Gardening, landscaping, horticulture, and grounds maintenance
- Labour Hire
- Heritage surveys
- Cultural awareness training
- Administration services
- Cultural tours
WME deliver these services to our clients and communities with our own fleet of assets:

- Excavators
- Graders
- Watercarts
- 55-seater buses
- Support vehicles and equipment
In 2019, FMG awarded to WME for first time in FMG’s history the biggest contracts ever awarded to an Aboriginal business. The value of the contract was worth approximate $179m over 5 years.
The success of securing these long-term contracts, not only has allow WME to build a long term and sustainable business, assist its Corporation in meeting its goals and objectives, but also, WME has been able to provide business opportunities to other Indigenous businesses.
As a 100% Aboriginal owned business, we are proud to maintain excellent Aboriginal engagement levels on our contracts and we have strong relationships with other Aboriginal enterprises and Traditional Owner groups. As WME looks ahead, we are excited to see the business and our member’s increase their local engagement in and around Karratha in line with the anticipated increase in local civil contract and employment opportunities.
